I can work with you to explore and understand bereavement, grief and loss. There are also many life events which are linked to loss such as divorce, separation, personal injury and chronic illness, work issues, retirement, pregnancy and fertility issues, miscarriage, children leaving home and experiencing the menopause. We can explore together the associated experiences of sadness, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, low confidence and low mood.
I offer you a safe space for you to talk about the feelings you are experiencing. Grief and loss (of all types) can feel like a very lonely place, and it is often difficult to talk to family and friends for fear of upsetting them, but the need to talk over and make sense of your emotions is very important in the grieving process. I can help you understand how the process of grief works and how you will be affected. I cannot solve your problems for you as you will understand, but I can offer you the time to talk about your loss and how it is affecting you and how you are coping. I will help you to understand what you are going through and to think about some strategies for coping.
I offer an initial free 30 minute, no obligation session for you to see if you think you might feel comfortable working with me, so please feel to get in touch. I offer sessions face to face, by telephone and online.
Personal Touch
I truly believe that my own losses in life have led me to where I am today. My personal life experiences allowed me to develop invaluable skills to support clients that are dealing with grief and loss. They equipped me with empathy, understanding and the ability to connect with clients who are going through similar challenges.
Having experienced the loss of my mother to cancer at a very young age and a 6 year period of infertility and miscarriages, I am no stranger to grief.
Following surgery and chemotherapy for breast cancer in 2016, a subsequent divorce, a stressful management career in retail and, later on, in finance and payroll, I made the decision to retrain as a counsellor and enrolled on my degree course.
I pursued my dream of becoming a specialist bereavement and loss counsellor and working with clients who have received a life-altering diagnosis.
Client Focus
As a bereavement counsellor, I work with adults. Along with bereavement, I also offer counselling for clients who have a life-altering diagnosis such as a brain tumour or cancer, along with other neurological diagnoses. I am also able to offer counselling for infant and pregnancy loss. There are many losses in life such as retirement, divorce or empty nest and I will be pleased to work with you to offer a safe space to work through your needs.
