My approach is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves to be heard and understood, regardless of the challenges they face. By choosing to work with me, you're taking a significant step towards healing and self-discovery in an atmosphere that honours your unique story and path to growth. Let's embark on this journey together, where your well-being is my utmost priority.

Personal Touch

In my counselling practice, the 'Personal Touch' is central to creating a meaningful therapeutic relationship. As an integrative therapist, I draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques to customize each client's journey towards healing. This flexible approach allows me to adapt to the unique needs and preferences of each individual, ensuring that therapy is a collaborative and dynamic process.

Empathy and understanding are the cornerstones of my work. I am committed to providing a non-judgmental, safe space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. My approach is to listen deeply, offering warmth and accessibility from the outset to build a foundation of trust and support.

While my own experiences inform my practice, it's the shared journey with my clients that truly shapes the therapeutic process. I believe in the value of being seen and understood, and I extend this belief to each session, affirming that every client's experience is valid and important.

I am dedicated to continuous personal and professional development, ensuring that my practice is informed by the latest research and insights in the field of therapy. This commitment to growth benefits not only myself but also the individuals I work with, as I bring fresh perspectives and strategies to our sessions.

Integrating the arts into therapy is one of the many tools I may use, offering an alternative way for clients to explore and express their emotions. This aspect of my practice, while not the sole focus, adds an enriching dimension that complements the therapeutic work we do together.

Client Focus

In my counselling practice, I have the privilege of working with a diverse clientele, each with their unique backgrounds, challenges, and therapeutic needs. My work encompasses supporting children, adults, and couples, offering them a tailored approach that respects their individual journeys. Working with children, I focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment where they can express themselves freely, helping them navigate the complexities of their emotions and experiences. For adults, I offer a space for exploration and healing, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions with empathy and understanding.

Couples therapy is another vital aspect of my practice, where I facilitate communication and connection, helping partners understand each other better and rebuild their relationships. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR therapy, an evidence-based approach that is particularly effective for trauma recovery and helping clients process distressing memories. My aim is to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space for all my clients, supporting their growth and resilience through tailored therapeutic interventions.

Background

My path into counselling was sparked by a foundational desire to understand and alleviate human suffering. With a foundation degree in counselling, I embarked on a journey to deepen my knowledge and skills in facilitating emotional and psychological healing. My passion for supporting the vulnerable led me to specialise further, obtaining a Diploma in Child Counselling and training in Couples Therapy for Depression. These qualifications have been crucial in shaping my approach to therapy, allowing me to offer targeted support to individuals, children, and couples facing diverse challenges.

Throughout my career, I have sought opportunities to apply my skills in varied settings, from schools to charities supporting survivors of rape, each experience enriching my practice and broadening my perspective. My work in these roles has been driven by a commitment to empathy, understanding, and the belief in the transformative power of therapy.

My role as an IAPT counsellor within the NHS has been particularly formative, allowing me to support adults and couples with a range of psychological issues. This position has honed my clinical skills and deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health within the healthcare system. It has affirmed my belief in accessible, tailored therapy that meets the unique needs of each client.

My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing on a variety of therapeutic modalities to create personalized treatment plans. While my practice includes the judicious use of the arts, my focus remains on fostering a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings openly. I am dedicated to continuous learning, regularly engaging in professional development to ensure my methods remain informed by the latest research and best practices in the field.

The essence of my practice is the creation of a compassionate, empathetic environment where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. Whether working with individuals, couples, or children, my aim is to facilitate a journey towards healing and self-discovery. My experiences across different settings have equipped me with the versatility and sensitivity to navigate the complexities of mental health care, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I work with.

As I look to the future, I am driven by a continued passion for counselling and a commitment to improving the mental health and wellbeing of my clients. My journey so far has been both challenging and profoundly rewarding, and I am eager to see where it leads, confident in the knowledge that my work has the power to effect positive change.

Therapy Approach

In my practice as an integrative therapist, I employ a multifaceted approach that is both holistic and adaptive, ensuring that the therapy I offer is precisely tailored to the individual needs and stories of my clients. This integrative framework allows me to weave together elements from various therapeutic traditions, including psychodynamic theories that delve into how past experiences influence present behaviour's and emotions, thereby uncovering the root causes of distress. Alongside, I incorporate the use of the arts in therapy, which provides a powerful medium for expression and exploration beyond what can sometimes be articulated through words alone, allowing for a deeper understanding and processing of emotions.

Transactional Analysis (TA) is another key component of my approach, offering valuable insights into the interactions and communication patterns that shape our relationships and self-concept. By combining these diverse methodologies—psychodynamic understanding, creative expression through the arts, and the interpersonal focus of TA—I create a comprehensive and dynamic therapeutic environment. This approach not only facilitates a deep exploration of the self and one's relationships but also supports the diverse needs of my clients, whether children, adults, or couples, in their pursuit of healing and growth.
