Victoria kilner

Psychotherapist

I’m Victoria, a BACP-registered integrative somatic therapist. I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, or disconnected from themselves — often shaped by long-standing stress, difficult relationships, or past experiences that still linger in the body and nervous system. My approach is calm, grounded, and trauma-informed. I believe therapy should feel steady and collaborative, not rushed or overwhelming. Many of the people I work with have spent a long time “pushing through,” holding things together, or putting others first. Therapy offers a space where you don’t have to do that anymore. I work integratively, meaning I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most supportive for you. Alongside talking therapy, I include somatic (body-based) awareness, helping you notice how emotions, stress, and past experiences show up physically. This can be particularly helpful if you feel stuck in your head, overwhelmed by emotions, or find it hard to relax or feel safe. My practice is rooted in respect, compassion, and curiosity. I don’t see you as broken or needing to be “fixed.” Instead, I view symptoms like anxiety, shutdown, or emotional reactivity as understandable responses to what you’ve lived through. Therapy becomes a place to understand those responses and gently create more choice and ease. I currently offer sessions online and in person, working with adults from a wide range of backgrounds.

Personal Touch

I work at your pace. Therapy with me is not about forcing insight or reliving experiences before you’re ready. We start with what feels manageable and build from there. Sessions usually involve a combination of talking and gentle somatic awareness. This might include noticing sensations in the body, exploring emotional responses, or slowing things down when life feels too intense. Everything is optional — you’re always in control of what we focus on. I pay close attention to safety and regulation. If something feels overwhelming, we pause, ground, and adjust. Therapy should feel supportive, not destabilising. Depending on your needs, our work may include: Talking therapy to explore your experiences, relationships, and patterns Somatic awareness to understand how stress and emotions live in the body Trauma-informed pacing, so change happens steadily rather than abruptly Practical tools to support emotional regulation and nervous system balance Space to reflect on past experiences and how they connect to the present I see therapy as a collaborative process. You’re the expert on your own experience; my role is to offer support, perspective, and guidance.

Working with adults

Background

Alongside private practice, I have worked within counselling services supporting young adults and have experience working with a wide range of presenting issues, including academic stress, identity exploration, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties. I also work with clients through Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), supporting stress, burnout, and work-related pressures. Prior to training as a therapist, I spent ten years working as a massage therapist, supporting clients with chronic pain, illness, stress, and cancer care. This background strongly informs my body-aware, somatic approach to therapy today.
